Semi-Pac is a global semiconductor engineering and packaging company with head quarters in Silicon Valley, California and a production facility in Singapore. John  MacKay and his partner Thomas Molinaro founded Semi-Pac in 1988 to address the demand for package engineering and research /
development. Semi-Pac has deep technical knowledge of the process and equipment used in integrated circuit fabrication and packaging. Semi-pac’s expertise has allowed them to make valuable contributions to the fab and packaging process. These innovations include process & system design, semiconductor package design, equipment research and development, equipment modifications and multidiscipline integration engineering for TAB Tape Automated Bonding, Soldering, Die Attach, Interconnect design, Electroplating, Wafer sawing, Ultra low cost wafer bumping, Fine pitch wire bonding, Multi-chip
packages and systems, Medical devices and systems, Military devices, Airborn telescope detection
array modules, and Low cost consumer electronic devices and packages. 

Semi-pac invented  multichip packaging technology for Hughes Space Systems. These multichip modules were part of a USA DoD contract for the Strategic Defense Initiative [SDI]. Semi-pac developed the highest density wafer scale package and interconnect, this packaging technology was so advanced that it attracted the attention of Digital Equipment Corporation who purchased the technology for the semiconductors used in the VAX 9000 series computers.
